RMRS Recognition Obtained for Underwater Thickness Measurements of Ships and Offshore Installations
Dontechcenter has obtained a Recognition Certificate from the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping authorizing the company to perform underwater measurements of the remaining thickness of ship structures under the supervision of an RS surveyor.
Underwater thickness measurements make it possible to determine the actual thickness of shell plating and accessible hull structural members. The measurements are performed directly on the submerged part of the hull, with the results recorded for subsequent assessment of the technical condition of the structures.
The scope of work may include measuring the remaining thickness at agreed measurement locations, recording the measured values and preparing the relevant reports. The results are used to assess corrosion wastage, identify areas of reduced metal thickness and plan further surveys or repairs.
